Be Brave Be Bold with your photography

Have you ever thought your photograph could be good enough to enter into a contest or your local fair or even a professional show in a gallery? What about your own show in a gallery? Yes, this can happen. Be Brave Be Bold…this is one way we learn our craft. We gain our confidence taking a leap of faith. Sometimes it can suck but remember feedback is important for us to improve our craft. Try not to think of it as something negative if someone else doesn’t like your work. You need to love it first and maybe last. A saying I learned from my dad is “I’m my own biggest fan.” I say this a lot to myself and others when I put myself 'out there'. If criticism is given to us constructively the blow isn’t as bad. Oh, I have pouted a little but hey, no one likes to hear you didn’t do this or didn’t do that but I accept constructive criticism when they say if you do this or this next time your photo will turn out much better. It has encouraged me to improve my craft and given me the confidence to enter my photographs in our local fair. Been Best of Show three times. I’ve won contest and been in professional art shows even in Spain. Yes, Spain. I don’t win every contest I enter and that’s ok, but I’ve received money, been in a couple calendars, sold a few pieces of my work and growing my photography business. I hope that my work is liked so much by everyone that everyone will be hanging my photograph(s) on their wall. That’s my dream anyway but then there is reality. Remember if you take a picture you want to hang on your wall and be proud, that’s what counts the most. Be Brave Be Bold and take a leap of faith. I’m here to be your cheerleader.
